Pride Month History Lesson!
A history lesson for Pride Month! JKA is working on the repair and restoration of the Plaza Hotel in San Diego. The historic building incorporates the facade of one of San Diego’s former prominent LGBTQ bars. In the 1940’s, The Circus Room was a place for the gay community to congregate and socialize during a time in which there weren’t many safe spaces available. The original facade, sidewalk clown mosaic, red metal canopy and the distinctive red and white tiling still remain and JKA is overseeing the restoration. JKA is excited to contribute to the preservation of one of the earlier queer spaces in San Diego.
