St. Elmo Village

JK recently visited St. Elmo Village, an historic multi cultural artists’ community founded after the 1965 Watts civil disturbance. After it was damaged in the ’94 Northridge Earthquake, JK helped design the rehabilitation of the ten-car stable into art classrooms and studios. The goal was to both retain the existing architectural character of the building as well as the artistic legacy and vision of the Village’s founders.
