Moreno Drive Residence

The client of a 1920's Spanish Revival home in the hills overlooking Silver Lake in Los Angeles wished to maintain the basic structure and character of the house but reconfigure it to incorporate an extensive library and art collection.

The resulting plan organized all the rooms of the house about a new central atrium and oculus surrounded by an arcade of books. Other work included reconfiguration of the bedrooms, upgrading of all materials and fixtures, a new kitchen and study, and a solar system.

Outside, a drought-tolerant California native landscape was designed incorporating existing trees on the property. The muted grays and greens of the plantings contrast with the traditional color scheme of the house, creating a unified design inside and out.
