With the opening of the Hollywood and Vine light rail stop, the surrounding area is undergoing transformation and renovation. A film school, eateries, and entertainment venues have drawn a new demographic to the area.

JKA was asked by Hawkins Way Capital to design a renovation of the historic Gilbert Hotel. The design maintains the appearance, use and configuration of the 1926 hotel while bringing the interior up to contemporary code and hotel design standards.

The renovated hotel features all new building systems including elevator, ADA improvements, 68 modernized hotel rooms, a lobby/lounge, game room, business center, small gym, self-serve breakfast facility and laundry room. Tenant spaces open to the sidewalk, where the courtyard contains new landscaping and an underground electrical vault. The 1920’s neon signs re-establish the Gilbert Hotel brand for a new generation of visitors to Hollywood.
