Los Angeles, CA
2008
Utilizing Los Angeles’ small lot subdivision ordinance, this project rehabilitates an existing four-plex rental apartment building into ownership units. The project is located in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, reconfigures 3,500 square feet of building area, and includes a new carport and drought-tolerant landscape.
The façade and exterior of the turn-of-the-century building was preserved while the interior underwent limited demolition and reconfiguration of space. To harmonize with the neighborhood and evoke a turn-of-the-century character, vintage colors were used on the facades and blossoming, water-resistant ground coverings and shrubs were featured in a gated entry garden.
